WILTON KIWANIS CLUB
Overview and Objectives

The Wilton Kiwanis Club is our community’s largest service organization, with our members dedicating their time and talent to our Club’s goal of strengthening our community with service and with fellowship. The Wilton Kiwanis Club is a local chapter of Kiwanis International, an organization dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

We are the largest Kiwanis Club in New England and one of the strongest and most active service clubs in our locale. One of our first, truly significant projects was the acquisition, development and donation of the land parcel known today as Kiwanis Park. The site now houses the Wilton Family Y. Click here for a summary of that project. We donated the Town's first ambulance, funded the Kiwanis Historical Records Room at the Wilton Library, and sponsored the Nursing and Home Care Pediatric Training Center at the Comstock Community Center.

The club was founded in 1951 by a group of the then most civic-minded Wiltonians, who had resolved to be a positive force in our community. Today we count close to over 100 men and women as members and continually seek new people to maintain our base. Our composition is unusually broad, including working, semi-retired and retired folks.

Backgrounds cover almost all fields: public, private, professional, retail, trade and industry. The common bond is a dedication to community support combined with the pleasure of the camaraderie. Click here for membership information.

Annually, we raise and donate around $40,000 to community betterment causes in Wilton and the surrounding area. In addition, the Club organizes quarterly food drives which re-supply the Wilton Social Service Food Pantry that serves needy Wilton families. Further, we support the Kiwanis International Pediatric Trauma Institute and Iodine Deficiency Disorder Programs. Click here for a list of the charities we support.

In addition to fund-raising, contributions and sponsoring community activities, we also undertake a variety of hands-on work projects such as the Americares Home Front, Crop Walk and numerous other people-powered volunteer activities. We work with and support the Wilton High School Key Club, a civically dedicated group of young people. Best of all, we accomplish these activities through enjoyable group effort and a warm sense of friendship, and periodically we pause and entertain ourselves, our families and our friends.
